Anna-Marie Sutherland is a Toronto born and Hamilton based actress and model with 30+ years experience. She returned to acting in 2023 with performances on both stage and screen, ending the year with the lead role of 'Donna' in Discovery Channel’s "Fear Thy Neighbour", "Apnea" premiered at the 2024 Blood in the Snow Film Festival and "Outcasted" continues to do very well on the international film festival circuit with several awards. The TV movie "Strike of Love" is streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV, and "Frequency of Fear" screened at An Afternoon of Horror for a Good Cause; Part 2. This month Anna-Marie is participating in the Siné 48 hour Film Challenge and shooting True Crime Network's "How Not to Hire a Hitman", streaming on Super Channel in Canada. .
She has also landed roles in the independent films "We're All Haunted Here", "Earned" and "The Passage of Natasha May", they are currently in post production.. She has also worked on web series for "Paradigm Studios", "Actors Anonymous Hotline", "Eskape Studios", and "Dear Grandpa, It's Michael", which is being made into a feature film.
Anna-Marie continues to support and learn from film students with over 40 productions. Recently she has filmed the award winning "Outcasted", "Grocery List", "Milo Stops Moving", and "Goodbye, Piccadilly" for TMU, "Quiet Redemption", "The Only Child", "Chasing Echoes" and "The Backstage" for Humber, "Dreaming David" for University of Toronto, "STAR04" for Toronto Film School, "Holding on to You" for Sheridan and "Mother Grievance" for York University.
Anna-Marie is best known for portraying the heavenly Bulgarian Nurse in the Academy Award winning feature film "The Barbarian Invasions". Other past roles include the proper yet feral 'Mother' in YTV's "Seriously Weird" and the eccentric 'Gretal Sass' in the mockumentary cult classic "Rock, Paper, Scissors: The Way of the Tosser".
She began her career as an international model, then segued into acting through theatre. Favourite past stage roles include 'Shelby' in Steel Magnolias, 'Florence Unger' in The Odd Couple (Female Version), and 'Mrs. Potiphar' in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She has also appeared at The Toronto Fringe Festival and in The Vagina Monologues. Most recently, Anna-Marie performed in The Hungry Ones; A Theatre of the Oppressed Forum.
Anna-Marie has worked on thousands of sets around the world across a variety of media, including film, television, theatre, web series, commercials, live appearances, print and runway. She has an experienced understanding of professional acumen and logistics.. Anna-Marie is passionately dedicated to the craft and continuously prepares herself for her next adventure in the art of storytelling.
